Giving Back to our 1st Responders

Commemorating First Responders is a program honoring fallen heroes in our communities.  They should be remembered , so that our gratitude never fades.

"Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die."
G. K. Chesterton

When a hero falls, Wilbert is there

Families of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical technicians who die in the line of duty are provided a customized, Stainless Steel Triune® burial vault through Wilbert’s Commemorating First Responders program.  If the choice is cremation, we provide an urn as well as a Stainless Steel Triune urn vault if the cremated remains are to be buried.

As a final tribute, a WilbertWay® graveside service is provided at no charge to the family, if permitted by the cemetery.

With gratitude to our fallen first responders and their families, Wilbert extends our contribution to honor heroic lives, sacrificed in valiant service.

Journey to Serve Program Now Launched in Canada

                                                                                     www.journeytoserve.com

The Funeral Service Association of Canada has teamed up with the Funeral Service Foundation and the ICCFA Educational Foundation to bring you Journey to Serve. The initiative helps recruit military veterans into the deathcare profession.

VETERANS ARE A GREAT FIT FOR FUNERAL SERVICE

“The men and women who serve their country and have successful military careers exhibit certain skills and traits – such as dedication, perseverance, and organizational ability – that are also well-suited to the funeral profession, " said Jeff Weafer, Treasurer and FSAC Board Director.

“Encouraging military veterans to deploy their talents into all areas of our work benefits the entire profession. Professionals across the funeral service spectrum will find value in the program including cemeteries, cremation facilities, funeral homes, suppliers, mortuary science programs, and provincial, regional, and local funeral associations,” said Allan Cole, President of FSAC.

LINKS FOR VETERANS

Veterans will find  training programs throughout Canada, information on academic scholarships and bursaries available for veterans who will need additional funeral service training, and a quiz to determine “Is Funeral Service Right for You?” The website also includes moving testimonials from veterans already working in the profession, and a list of resources available to veterans leaving service.
